If you’re an English reader of the Simon Thorn series, you may have noticed that the fourth book, Simon Thorn and the Black Widow’s Web, was released last July in Germany under ANIMOX: Der Biss der Schwarzen Witwe. The fifth book, Simon Thorn and the Eagle’s Lair, was released February 25th, 2019 under ANIMOX: Der Flug des Adlers.
So – what gives? Why aren’t the final two books in the series available in English?
That’s a great question, and the answer is complicated. I’ve been doing everything I can to get them out there, but ultimately, publishing is a business. And while sales are good in the US, the publisher doesn’t believe there is enough interest in the series to justify putting the fourth and fifth books out there at this time.
However, as disappointing as that is, this decision can be reversed if the publisher sees that there is still interest. And that’s entirely in your hands.
If you want to see the fourth and fifth Simon Thorn books out in English, then the best thing you can do to help make that happen is to spread the word about the series. How?
Request the entire series from your school and public libraries. Tell your friends about the series. Tell your cousins. Tell your classmates. Books make great presents, if you can afford it. Leave reviews for the books on Amazon, B&N, Indiebound, etc. Start a campaign online. Make your voices heard. You deserve to have the ending of this series, and I promise I’m doing everything I possibly can to make that happen. I’m only one person, though, and my voice is only so loud. I need your help to make this happen.
The thought of readers being left hanging like this kills me, and I’m just as desperate as you are to put them in your hands. One day, it will happen, I promise. One way or the other, I will make sure you have the fourth and fifth books. But I can’t tell you when that will be – I can only encourage you to help spread the word, because when more people know about the series, more will read it and (I hope) enjoy it, which will create more demand. And the more demand there is, the more the publisher will listen.
Thank you all so, so much for your support, and I wish I had better news for you. But if we work together, I believe we can make this happen.
I would love to write another one and show you more of Kate and Henry's world, but as of now, there are no plans for another book in the series.
I would feel terrible putting those characters through more than they've already survived, so that series will remain a trilogy.
School visits are my favorite part of being an author. I'm available for booking in the metro-Detroit area for grades 3-7 and 8-12. Please contact me for more information.
I'm so sorry, but I'm unable to reply to individual questions for homework or reports. I'm too busy writing books!
